Temperature sensors
Temperature sensors: device that measures heat generated from an object or system. The device can detect changes in temperature. There are two metals in a thermostat that will close and open depending on the current temperature. An electrical current will flow to heat up or cool down the atmosphere. Infrared sensors detects infrared radiation/waves from a person or object.
Two types: -contact sensors = need to have physical contact with a solid, liquid or gas to work. -non-contact sensors = measures energy radiated from an object.
Where can temperature sensors be used: -refrigerator, to set a constant temperature by taking samples -heating system uses a thermostat which keeps temperature at a consistent level. -to control the television using infrared sensors, a signal is sent from the remote to the television to change the channel for example. -security systems to detect heat of a human -used in astronomy to view objects of the universe -monitor the heat of an airplane
